Performing Arts
Performing Arts at Coatesville Primary School includes weekly classroom lessons and is enhanced by instrumental, choral and dance opportunities. During classroom time the students explore elements of Music, Drama and Dance. An emphasis on music literacy and practical use of classroom instruments gives the students the chance to explore valid music making and to take their interest into other areas.
The school celebrates a whole school performance on alternative years. Middle Years students participate in a local cluster schools Arts display and performance at the Glen Eira City Hall every two years. Other performance opportunities include the school Soiree, Open Day, Mothers' Day Lunch, Fathers' Day Breakfast and End of Year Festival.
The Junior Choir includes interested children in Grade1 and 2. The students sing at school functions and visit nursing homes to sing Christmas Carols.
The Senior Choir is an auditioned choir of Grade 3 to 6 children. The choir enters competitions locally, and in country Victoria, as well as singing within the local community. The choir is trained by a parent from the school with a strong Kodaly background and the students greatly benefit from this approach.
Instrumental lessons are available during school hours. Keyboard, flute, violin. guitar and drum kit lessons are currently available. Instrumental students are encouraged to perform at every opportunity. A String Group rehearses weekly.
