School Profile

Coatesville Primary School is located on Mackie Road in East Bentleigh, a well-established residential suburb within the City of Glen Eira in Melbourne’s south east. We are an authorised International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme World School, proudly part of a global educational community committed to developing curious, knowledgeable and compassionate young people who contribute positively to a more peaceful and sustainable world.

Coatesville Primary School is part of the South East Victoria Region and works closely within the Inner Sub Region of local government schools. We actively support and contribute to State education priorities and collaborate with neighbouring schools to strengthen academic outcomes, student wellbeing and inclusive practice across our network. Strong parent partnerships and deep community connection have been defining features of Coatesville Primary School since its establishment in 1953 and continue to underpin our success.

Our student population has continued to grow steadily, with enrolments sitting at approximately 800 students in 2026. Due to sustained demand, an enrolment zone remains in place to manage growth and preserve the quality of learning experiences for all students. We attract and retain high quality staff who are deeply committed to academic excellence, the principles of the IB PYP and our shared school values of Respect, Responsibility, Achievement, Harmony and Cooperation.

Coatesville Primary School offers contemporary learning environments that support collaboration, creativity and high quality teaching practice. Our facilities and grounds are well maintained and continually enhanced to meet the needs of a modern learning community. We prioritise small class sizes across Prep to Grade 6 and provide a comprehensive specialist program including Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education and French.

We are strongly committed to knowing every learner well. A range of targeted and extension programs support students who require additional assistance as well as those working above expected levels. These supports are delivered through in class differentiation and, where appropriate, short term targeted intervention. Government funding is used strategically to maximise impact and ensure students receive timely and effective support.

Student wellbeing and voice are central to our work. Leadership opportunities are embedded across all year levels and supported through structured programs that promote agency, collaboration, empathy and confidence. We work in close partnership with families to develop resilient learners who are willing to take risks, learn from challenges and contribute positively to their community.

Our school offers Out of School Hours Care and vacation care through TeamKids and is proud of our five star rated canteen, The Ville, which provides healthy food options throughout the week. Our School Council plays a vital role in governance and strategic direction and works tirelessly to support continuous improvement across all aspects of the school.

At Coatesville Primary School, we hold high expectations for learning, wellbeing and behaviour. Together, as a connected and aspirational community, we encourage every student to grow, thrive and aspire higher.
